There was a recent study in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy in 2019. And what they looked at was men having insecurity and low self-esteem with the size of their penis. Previous studies have shown this (see our blog here).
WHAT DO THE REPORTS SAY?
So men had to self-report their erect penis length. And what they found was that men self-reported 30% longer than their actual length. What this tells us is that men tend to embellish. What they're reporting tries to make themselves more sexually desirable. And it's not knowing whether men are doing this on purpose or are men just doing this to themselves to make themselves feel more confident.
FEELING BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES
But there is a correlation between the two. 30% reported having links greater than 8%, but these men were embellishing their links. And so what that tells you is number one, never trust a self-measured study for men measuring their male members. And number two, men want to feel desirable and they have a sense of esteem associated with the size and length of the penis.
